In fact right click in develop or print or anywhere in LR to invoke the context menu. Inspect the Context menu and note how many "next steps" are available with a single mouse click. Consequently I have not had to memorize lots of arcane shortcuts because the quickest method is to call up the Context menu. For your issue, all I do is right click on the image and left click on "Create VirtualCopy" in the Context Menu that pops up. 5 - in the Menu title window type the name of the shortcut (copy, paste, select all, etc ) 6- in the shortcut window select the combination ( option+c, Option+v, Option+a ) 7- click the add button. If it doesnt, go to Keyboard settings in System. Sometimes even using my left hand to type on the right side of the keyboard. Make sure when you press CMD + C your Edit menu in the top flashes, this indicates it works as expected. I spend ~95% of my time with my right hand on the mouse. If you started out using Word Perfect or Word in DOS, then shortcut keys were essential as Mouse functions were not in vogue or required taking the hands off the keyboard frequently. Most of the effort in LR is spent clicking with a mouse and very little time on the keyboard except when adding text to the metadata fields like Titles and Captions. So I figured - maybe it needs a newer version of Digital Editions.

But I have a newer mac - a 2014 macbook pro running 10.10.1. So I followed your directions (thank you) and still could not reauthorize. I am not sure whether my kid typed today on keyboard effected this. I too had the same problem you did, not being able to reauthorize on a Macbook Pro with just keyboard commands. Click to expand.I do not use shortcut keys to a great degree. Suddenly copy and paste from keyboard is not working.
